2. What is IEEE 802.16?
All WiMAX manufacturers must abide by
the standards set by the IEEE (Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)
in their 802.16 Working Group.
802.16 refers to the type of technology.
Two subgroups exist:. 802.16d is for fixed
connections, and 802.16e, a more advanced
technology, supports fixed, portable and mobile

share the same connection, provided they
are connected to a hub switch.
8. How does WiMAX work?
WiMAX technology is very similar to mobile
phone technology. It seamlessly links a large
number of transmitting towers with a highly
reliable land based IP (Internet protocol)
network, which is like a postman delivering a
letter. (Ittransmits data packets from the source
to the destination solely based on its IP address).
WiMAX uses only licensed spectrum
(reserved frequencies) to ensure speedy and
efficient communication between your computer
and your selected destination via your wireless
device and the transmitting towers.
9. How does WiMAX’S speed
compare to others?

17. Other than the wireless
device, is there any equipment
or software for me to install?
No. Home users simply need to attach the
Ethernet and power connections of the wireless
device to their computer. Business users
will have the setup completed in full by our
Service Delivery Engineers.
18. Is the wireless device covered
by a warranty? If so, what do I
do if there is a problem?
Your wireless device is covered for material
defects and workmanship for a period of 12
months from the date of purchase or date
of subscription.

20. What should I do if I move
home or business premises?
For Home users, just take your wireless device
with you and plug it in when you arrive at
your new location!

I’ve chosen?
Yes, You can upgrade the service at any time

22. Is WiMAX secure?
Yes, extremely. Your WiMax connection uses
menatelecom’s own broadband wireless
security certificates, so no other products or
wireless devices can connect to the network.
Your wireless device operates over a licensed,
protected frequency band, and is pre-configured
with all the required settings.
23. Can I set up a home network
on my WiMAX connection?
Yes. The wireless device is compatible with all
Ethernet-based wired and wireless networking
products. You can use these networking products
to connect the wireless device to your computer,
as well as connecting multiple computers to
share your internet connection.
